Living cum workshed

In order to provide shelter to houseless weavers “Living cum workshed” scheme was announced in the budget of 2009-10. Living cum workshed is provided to houseless weavers in order to provide good environment to continue their weaving activity. They can carry out weaving activity continuously by which their living standard will be improved.

Living cum workshed scheme was implemented by the Handlooms & Textiles department from the year 2009-10 to 2014-15. This scheme is being implemented by Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation from the year 2015-16.

Out of the unit cost of Rs.2.50 lakhs, Handlooms & Textiles department is providing Rs.1.00 lakhs, Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation is providing Rs.1.20 lakhs and the beneficiary has to bear their contribution of Rs.0.30 lakhs.

Application along with relevant documents has to be submitted by the houseless weavers to the district office. Assistant / Deputy Director of the district will scrutiny the document and verify the location. This proposal is placed for selection before the committee headed by the concerned Joint Director of the division with members of the district heads of the Handlooms & Textiles Department, Social Welfare Department, Women and child development Department, Co-operative Department.
